New Years Resolutions 2009

After failing to make any proper resolutions last year (I had over one hundred goals, which I failed to turn into a handful of resolutions) and the lack of progress I made in my life in 2008, I am determined to set a some better (and hopefully SMART)  goals for 2009.

Stop Procrastinating /Improve Focus -The almost impossible goal that I set ever year.

The plan is for me to update the progress on these goals, and the start of every month, so I’ll see you in February.

News from the world of me

Well the last post certainly caught a fair bit of attention, in fact it’s the most popular post I’ve written since the move to WordPress. I must blog about current events more often (or just blog more often).

I’ve been Working from home for the past few weeks, and it doesn’t look like I’ll be travelling again in a while, probably not until after the new year. This gives me plenty of time to go stir crazy, but at least it means I spend less time traveling.

Working on ObscureInternet.com as well, been interview some bands from MySpace (first one was published on wednesday, a lovely young lady). The request for interviews got a much bigger response that I expected, I’m still writing and uploading the answers I got for requests I sent out over two weeks ago.

Also I’ve just bought myself a nice new Microphone so I can start broadcasting show live shows for Radio6581. I’ve got a few things to sort out but these should be coming very soon. I’m also thinking of doing some Podcasts for ObscureInternet.

Oh, while I’m on the subject of retro radio,  it’s time to Vote for ROTY 2008! again on remix 64, it only seems like a few weeks since the last awards show.

Fitness wise, I’ve been going Wii-fit intermittantly and I’ve manged to complete Week 2 of Onehundredpushs. I managed to complete more than 81 push ups in one session, which surprised me greatly. The weight is still yo-yo-ing (is that a word? I hope so) but as I’ve said before this doesn’t really bother me.

I’ve also been busy with something else that I’ve got going on at the moment, but it’s a bit of secret and has been for almost two years. I may reveal the secret at the end of the year, but don’t get too excited, it’s not that interesting.

The US election, Bonfire Night and Fitness

It’s been an interesting week, first of all we’ve had the end to all the nonsense in the USA. Yes, the US election finally came to an end on Tuesday. I stayed up, until after three o’clock in the morning, to watch all the fun on the BBC, and also to actually see if Obama would win. Obviously Obama was favourite to win, but given the nature of Americans, I had to see it before I would believe it. Thanks to the BBC excellent coverage, I did see it and even that idiot John Bolton didn’t manage to spoil it.

Wednesday was Bonfire night. This year rather than go to an organised display, Conor and I walked around the local estate visiting the various fires that had been assembled by the local children and the unemployable. This was something I haven’t done in a long time, and it was an interesting experience. It is just like a organised  display except people go these Bonfire in there pyjamas, and the fires are mostly built out of Wheelie Bins (which burn surprisingly well), garden fences and old household furniture. In conclusion I really should move.

Finally today’s Wii Fit weigh showed that I have lost 3lb pounds in the last two weeks, which is weird because I haven’t had time for either Wii Fit or the hundredpushups thing in those two weeks.

Giving onehundredpushups another go.

onehundredpushups

After a bit of a gap since I last had a go at it, but I started the onehundredpushups programme again last week. I managed to complete week one without any problems, as well as ramping up my Wii Fit programme.

Friday’s Wii Fit weight in again revealed that I had put on a little bit more weight, but (like I said in the last update) I’m not going to obsess about it, I’ll just keep on going.

Lose a shilling and find sixpence

For the first time in over a month I’ve been working from home all week. As well as giving me extra time with the family, this allows me to get back into doing some Wii Fit. I’ve managed to a couple of hours worth this week, and I seemed to have got straight back into it. During the week I’ve beaten four personal bests and equaled two others, however when I weighed myself was surprised to find that I’d managed to put the 2lb I’d lost last week back on. This is most annoying as I wouldn’t say I’ve been eating a great deal this week, but I’m not going to worry too much about it. I’ll be working from home again next week, so I’ll try and put more time in exercising and get rid of those pounds again.

Being doing a lot of work on ObscureInternet, adding wordpress plug-ins and features, to try and get people to stay and have a look around the site once they’ve landed on it. I’ve also got some work to do on Orchestralmedia.co.uk to do. I need to add new functionality to the site without changing the design of the site, which will be interesting given the constraints of the site design.

The family is still plodding along. Conor is still going to Karate twice a week, and he is now reading the third Harry Potter book after reading the first two in the last couple of weeks. We are also starting to think and plan for christmas. We’ve all got to make up our wishlists of presents (orders from mother).

I’m a big loser.

Despite not doing any daily Wii Fit or onehundredpusups for a long time, Friday’s weigh-in surprisingly revealed that I had lost another 2lbs.

This puts my weigh down to the lowest rates since records begin (about three years ago) and puts me in the normal weight catergory on wii fit (but over a stone over my ‘ideal’ weight). I’m going to ignore this information and use my own system which is simply; keep trying to get in shape until I lose my big fat gut.

Wii Fit and OneHundredPushUps – No Progress

I’ve was keeping up with my Wii Fit, every day without fail. So much so in-fact, that it was becoming a bit of chore. So I decided to take a little break from it, however because I’ve been a bit busy with work/procrastinating/travelling, I’ve gone a week with out Wii Fitting or doing my OneHundredPushUps, which is a much longer break that I wanted to take.

Now I can’t restart the Wii Fit today as the living room (where I do my Wii Fit, because it’s the only room in the house with a Television) currently looks likes a building site. The ceiling is being replaced as being as it has been cracking and falling down for the last few months, but hopefully it should be done and dusted (or rather de-dusted, if that is a word and not just a map on CounterStrike) by the end of the day.

When I do restart the Wii Fit I have decided that I will also only weigh myself once a week, as the daily weigh-ins can be confusing and damaging to my movitation. I can lose 2 pounds one day and then put it all straight back on the next. I will also need to retake the OneHundredPushUps test and restart doing that as soon as possible.

I have also come to the conclusion if I’m serious about losing weight and getting in shape, I need to go to the gym on a regular basis. So I’m going to get a bit of money together and join the local council run Gym, it is the one I went to previously and it is very good. The current plan is to get myself a annual membership for my Birthday in August.

My unofficial Wii Fit Experiment

Wii fitInspired by the Official Wii Fit Experiment I’ve been continuing to do my Wii Fit training every day (except for the two days I was away). This week for the first time, since I started training, I’ve managed to lose weight. Yes, I’ve managed to lose two pounds this week, which moves me out of overweight and into ideal (just).

I did over an hours training on Friday to celebrate. So, although I am sore today, I am gonna keep it up.

onehundredpushups Week 1 Day 1 (Take 2)

onehundredpushupsAfter feeling a bit under the weather on Friday of last week, and therefore being unable to complete Week 1 Day 3, I’ve decided to repeat Week 1.

So today was first day of week one again, and I managed to complete it while doing a total of 46 press ups.  (10, 10, 8, 6, and then maxing out with 12). Which is less than a managed last week, but this is because this time I made sure I was doing the press ups properly, rather than doing them to quickly. I felt because I was rushing last week I was favouring my right arm too much. I don’t want to end up with one arm much bigger than the other.

Hopefully, I’ll be doing the next day on Wednesday. I’m not sure yet, because I’ve got to do some travelling with work.

Moviated without Tea.

Hello All, It’s been a busy few days but I’ve got a quick post for you that I’ve been wanting to post since Wednesday.

I’ve had a increase in motivation lately. I’ve been getting up early every weekday morning (because I currently need to start work at 8.15 at the latest),  I’ve been drinking a lot less tea (down from a minimum of six cups to a maximum of three a day) and a lot more water. I’m drinking more water mainly because I’m doing a lot more exercises. As well as doing more than thirty minutes Wii Fit everyday, I’m also giving the hundredpushups a try, as I hope you’ve already noticed.  I had planned to complete week one by now, however I wasn’t too well on Friday and therefore wasn’t able to complete day three, so I’m going to start week one again on Monday.

The other thing to have excited me in the last week or so, is blogging. Since I installed WordPress I’ve been typing up lots of posts, most of them are still in draft but I’m enjoying blogging like I haven’t done for a long long time, so look out for more posts coming soon.
