Taking the next step…

The diet has come to a major turning point.

I’m still losing about one lbs a week, making it a total of 25lbs lost in eight weeks, but rather continue on losing weight I think I’ve reached a point where I am happy with the weight I am now, and I want to focus on my Body Fat Percentage, getting below 15%. So I’m going to start adding a few things that have been missing from my diet back in, increase my Carb intake (but not by too much), but still cut out all the crap such as fast food, caffeine, alcohol and fizzy pop except maybe on special occasions.

However, the big news is that yesterday, I took the big step that I’ve been talking about for the past five years and joined a proper Gym. I finally bit the bullet and paid out for a full years Gym membership. Now I’ve spent that money, I will not waste it by giving up after a few weeks. I’ve got a session with a personal trainer tonight to work out a programme for me, and after that hopefully I’ll be able to work out at least two or three times a week.

Joining the Gym also has the added bonus helping me catch up with my Podcast backlog, as I find Podcasts the perfect distraction while I’m working out.

A Smaller Diet Update

Just a quick update on the diet for those who are internested, and before you think no one is interested I’ve recently heard that @londonfilmgeek was inspired by my updates to give the Vegetarian low Carb diet a go.

Another week gone and the diet is still going well. Monday’s weigh in showed a loss of another 3lb since the week before. My total weight lost is now a rather massive 23lbs. Wii Fit tells me I’m at my ideal BMI and I’m beginning to see parts of my body I haven’t seen it a long time, so I’m beginning to think this may not need to lose a lot more weight (I had originally planned to lose another 9lbs) and that  I just need to continue to get my BodyFat Percentage down, which is now just over 21%, quite a bit down from over 25% it was five weeks ago. I’ve completed one week of one hundred press ups and two hundred squats and I did some other exercises last week, but I think I need to spend more time exercising.

Being smaller is a great excuse to buy news clothes, so yesterday I popped into town and bought myself a few Small T-Shirts, and a pair of Jeans with a 30inches waists

Memory Loss, Reading, Writing and Losing Stuff.

When I rack my brain for memories it does appear I do have some sort of a rudimentary  life. In the last post I failed to mention that I’ve been to another Wedding, and a 18th birthday party celebration recently.

I also meant to mention the books I bought while travelling to and from Ireland. WHSmith were having a half price sale (in their Airport and Train station shops only) so I picked this lot up.

Books

Speaking of books, which I believe I was, I’ve been reading quiet a bit lately. I’ve read the following books in the last week or so, Sh*t My Dad Says, The Twits, Artemis Fowl, The Death of WCW, and The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ. Two of those are my 100 Books to read list!

Oh, and if you are wondering when I’m going to update my 40 things last, I plan to do it in the first week on August.

My only bit of website news this time, is that I have started to write for Obsolete Gamer. So keep any eye out for my posts on some classic Video games.

Since my diet posts are about as popular as the ginger one from Sex and the City, I’ll just briefly mention that Week 3 of the Diet is complete, I’ve now lost 16lbs and my Body Fat is now under 23%.

Finally, the wife and I celebrated our 7th Wedding Anniversary at weekend, and I celebrated in typical fashion by losing my Wedding ring. Frustrating, but what can you do. A replacement has been ordered and I’m just waiting for it to arrive.

Diet Week 2

DietThe second Week of the diet and final week of detox was a lot easier than the first. I think I’d gone through Carb and Caffine withdraw in the first weeks, so the only thing I need to worry about in the second week was sticking to my three meals a day and not being tempted into eating any high-carb food that I would normally. It’s very tempting just to a slice of toast or even a chocolate bar, but I’ve just got to fight the urges.

I’ve been finding my energy levels return to normal after feeling very tired during the first, I think the important thing is to make sure I’m getting enough Protein. I’m eating a lot of eggs (about three a day) and also having Protein Drinks as well.

I only managed one session of Karate training, because of schedule conflicts on Thursday, but I managed to complete the week and the detox. I can now add another 5 carbs to my daily allowance.

My final total weight loss for the week was 4lbs, which makes me 12lbs lighter than when I started.

Diet Week 1 Part 2

DietDay 5 – 156 Pounds

Slightly surprised I only lost a 1lb this morning, after last nights Karate training exertions I though it might have been a little more, I did however feel bit more tired today. Another omlete this mornings, although it was supposed to be scrambled, as I’m getting fond of my egg based breakfasts.

If I keep losing a 1lbs a day I’ll hit my goal in about a month, which would very cool, but I’m taking it one day at a time.

Day 6 – 155 Pounds

Another 1lb gone this morning, looks like a pattern is developing one, I will not mention again unless it changes. Scrambled eggs this morning.

Day 7 – 156 Pounds

Gain 2lb today, however this is because I weighed myself in the evening instead of the usual morning time. Horrible day today, felt a bit down and seriously considered quitting, however by evening I was fine again and wanting to continue.

That’s week one Completed!

Diet Week 1 Part 1

For a long time I’ve been looking for a diet for a few reasons. I wanted a balanced diet that would tell me what and when to eat, as well has help me lose weight. It also had to be a Vegetarian, so I eventual found Rose Elliot’s Vegetarian Low-Carb Diet at the local library.

As the title suggests it’s a Low-Carb diet like the Aikens diet, but it’s hard mode as it’s Vegetarian too. So have an even smaller choice of foodstuffs. You can just eat stuff like Eggs, Salads, Dust and Cardboard.

Day 1 – Starting weight 162 Pounds.

First thing to do was weigh myself so, I got a starting weight 162 Pounds. These means I need to loose about 30lbs to hit my ideal weight. Although the internet has different ideas of what my ideal weight should be, it’s somewhere between 130lbs to 137lbs. Anyway plan B is I’ll know I’ve hit my weight when I’ve not got a big fat belly. My plan is to lose a pound a week and then I’ll be the correct weight for around Christmas.

Cooked myself Scrambled Eggs for breakfast. This was actually my first time making Scrambled Eggs, don’t laugh it’s true. Probably shouldn’t have gone to Karate, but I did anyway and it was OK.

Day 2 – 159 Pounds

Big weight loss this morning, that 1lb a week goal is looking a bit modest now. However I’ve been going through ketosis big time, suffering from headaches and tiredness.  I had plan to see Iron Man 2, but had to cancel as I could manage it.

Day 3 – 158 Pounds

Lost a 1lb this morning. This morning breakfast was an omelet, again this was my first time make an Omelet and again don’t laugh. Feeling a lot better today even managed to walk all the way back home from the Riverside Stadium in the evening.

Day 4 – 157 Pounds

Another a 1lb loss this morning, I’m not sure if I should be happy or slightly worried. Today’s egg based cooking was a devilled egg, but I just did three simple three boiled eggs (again for the first time, don’t laugh). Went to Karate training again tonight when I probably shouldn’t have, it was a very hard session and I felt light headed and very tired at various points.

So that’s a 5lb loss in four days, not bad. I suspect after that Karate session there will be another sizeable loss in the morning.

Edit: The diet is part of my 40 things Goals to reduce my Body Fat.

New Years Resolutions 2009

News from the world of me

Well the last post certainly caught a fair bit of attention, in fact it’s the most popular post I’ve written since the move to WordPress. I must blog about current events more often (or just blog more often).

I’ve been Working from home for the past few weeks, and it doesn’t look like I’ll be travelling again in a while, probably not until after the new year. This gives me plenty of time to go stir crazy, but at least it means I spend less time traveling.

Working on ObscureInternet.com as well, been interview some bands from MySpace (first one was published on wednesday, a lovely young lady). The request for interviews got a much bigger response that I expected, I’m still writing and uploading the answers I got for requests I sent out over two weeks ago.

Also I’ve just bought myself a nice new Microphone so I can start broadcasting show live shows for Radio6581. I’ve got a few things to sort out but these should be coming very soon. I’m also thinking of doing some Podcasts for ObscureInternet.

Oh, while I’m on the subject of retro radio,  it’s time to Vote for ROTY 2008! again on remix 64, it only seems like a few weeks since the last awards show.

Fitness wise, I’ve been going Wii-fit intermittantly and I’ve manged to complete Week 2 of Onehundredpushs. I managed to complete more than 81 push ups in one session, which surprised me greatly. The weight is still yo-yo-ing (is that a word? I hope so) but as I’ve said before this doesn’t really bother me.

I’ve also been busy with something else that I’ve got going on at the moment, but it’s a bit of secret and has been for almost two years. I may reveal the secret at the end of the year, but don’t get too excited, it’s not that interesting.

The US election, Bonfire Night and Fitness

It’s been an interesting week, first of all we’ve had the end to all the nonsense in the USA. Yes, the US election finally came to an end on Tuesday. I stayed up, until after three o’clock in the morning, to watch all the fun on the BBC, and also to actually see if Obama would win. Obviously Obama was favourite to win, but given the nature of Americans, I had to see it before I would believe it. Thanks to the BBC excellent coverage, I did see it and even that idiot John Bolton didn’t manage to spoil it.

Wednesday was Bonfire night. This year rather than go to an organised display, Conor and I walked around the local estate visiting the various fires that had been assembled by the local children and the unemployable. This was something I haven’t done in a long time, and it was an interesting experience. It is just like a organised  display except people go these Bonfire in there pyjamas, and the fires are mostly built out of Wheelie Bins (which burn surprisingly well), garden fences and old household furniture. In conclusion I really should move.

Finally today’s Wii Fit weigh showed that I have lost 3lb pounds in the last two weeks, which is weird because I haven’t had time for either Wii Fit or the hundredpushups thing in those two weeks.
