When looking through my followers list on Twitter, I began to wonder about is the correct social etiquette for unfollowing people. So I asked the following question on twitter.
Yeah, but what about the randoms? Would it be helpful if the said something like; “Doesn’t tweet about lamp posts enough” rather than just the sneaky unfollow.
Unfollows don’t bother me. I’m not vain about my number of followers. Having conversations with people now and again gives you a sense of friendship, but there must be something in common to start with. And if the unfollower had nothing in common with you, and hardly ever conversed with you, then why should you be bothered about the unfollow?
I’ve followed people, found their interests uninteresting, and unfollowed them, only be greeted with a tweet taking offence along the lines of @GarryTheBiz unfollowed me, well that’s his loss not mine!
Gee, calm down, it’s only Twitter! Just accept that you probably don’t have interests in common.
I use BirdBrain on the iPhone to keep track of my followers and normally the people that unfollow me are no big loss. Once someone I really cared about unfollowed me and I asked them what was up. They told me they were tired of me flooding their stream. Apparently, I was the only one of their twitter friends that tweeted with any regularity.
I’d probably be hurt if someone unfollowed me and told me the reason why, especially if it was someone on my “flesh” list.

P.S. Suck my Balls, chad.
If only you had some……………..
This would have made more sense if you had pressed the ‘reply to this comment’ link.

Yeah very good point. Sometimes people don’t share enough interests to merit following each other.

I guess it just happens sometimes.
