The Box Room Podcast

Through the magic of the Internet, and more specifically Twitter, I recently discovered a rather good Podcast called The Box Room it’s very difficult to explain what it is about so I’ll copy and paste some text from it’s Facebook Group in the way of an explanation.

Marty and Jen, That Bloke and the Token Female, would like the loan of your earholes to listen to this thing. We are going to say words, do some laughs, and maybe… just maybe… raise a smirk or two from your good selves.

I’m sure that clears it up for you. Anyway the most important thing you need to know is it’s great fun and well worth a listen.

Recently the show has been discussing Nerd Hurdles, which (according to the Internet) are a barrier or blockade of ‘nerdiness’ that an individual not of the nerd persuasion must metaphorically ‘leap’ over in order to enjoy or fully appreciate a given TV show or Movie.  Podcast episode #30 named an old BBC show from the 80′s called Star Cops as a Nerd Hurdle, being a bit of fan of this  show, I felt the need to stick up for it and thus I recorded an passionate defence of Star Cops and sent it in which Marty at the Podcast was kind enough to include in episode #31. It’s right at the end of the Podcast, however my horrible voice is included at the start of Podcast before the Introduction music.

tl;dr Go and subscribe to the Box Room Podcast http://theboxroom.mevio.com/

Interesting Weekend Links?

I am currently wondering if I should keep doing this (semi) weekly post, as I’ve not had any feedback on them. Admittantly I just knock these links out because it’s an easy feature to write and therefore gives me a quick way of keeping the blog updated. Anyway, here are the links;

I was going to post a few links to mercuryvapour.co.uk as Scribbler has been blogging quiet a bit lately, but it seems due to personal resons, he has closed the site for the foreseeable future. Hopefully it will be back very soon.

Changes ahead for Retro Remixes?

It looks like some changes are ahead for fans of C64 and Amiga Remixes.

The submission systems for both Remix.Kwed.Org and AmigaRemix.com have both been switched off, and they will not be back until the 24th of August. The official reason for this is to give the jurors the possibility to rest from their duties and recharge the batteries for the rest of the year but I can’t help but wonder if this time isn’t going to be used to make some changes to both these sites. Further suspicions have been raised by Amiga Remix admin Ziphoid when he posted  ‘It’s time for a complete overhaul of the design of AmigaRemix.com, both for the back end and the frontend‘ while looking for a designer for Amiga Remix.

I suspect both sites are going to be updated, perhaps giving new features. I know I would really like the ability to log in, vote and a review track, without having to open up the Remix64 in a box Window. I think this would encourage more people vote and leave comments.

In the meantime you can get the latest remixes from Kwed, by downloading the Quarter 2 2009 torrent or read Dr Future’s interview with prolific Amiga remixer Daxx on Remix64.

Saturday’s Links

This weekend links are only one date late, but you’ll have to trust me when I say they are well worth the wait.

Project Awesome

AwesomeSince mentioning Project Awesome in a number of previous posts, I’ve had a few request to explain what it is.

Project Awesome is my new self improvement system. Unlike my previous systems including this year’s new years resolutions it has a a small number of Goals, of which I will focus on one a time, usually for at least a week. When I’ve  reach a decent level with a goal  (hopefully forming new a new habit from it) I will then moving to the next goal while still making sure I continue to hit the old goal.

I’ve been doing Project Awesome for two weeks now, and I have managed to improve both the time I rise in the morning and my fitness regime. This week I’ve manage to go to the gym twice in one week for the first time in I can’t remember when. Next week a while continue to focus on my fitness and exercise as it would very easy to slip back into doing less exercise.
