It’s only a day late, so technically we are still on track.

So what have I been up to? Well to be honest not much, working and spending time with the family, me ma and my sister have been visiting Middlesbrough for the last week and a bit which is nice. They headed back to Ireland and London (respectively) today.

On Tuesday I took Conor for his first Karate lesson at the school last night, he must have enjoyed it as wants to keep going until he is a black belt. He was very reluctant a first as he was one of the few not in Karate Pyjamas, he want me to buy him a set there and then on the spot, but after I explained to him (with an instructors help) that you needed to go for a few weeks before you bought them he was fine.

The Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (Mima) opened at the weekend, and they had a huge fireworks display to celebrate. The family and I will pop down to see it soon.

We had a little bit of snow one morning last week (after check Scrib’s blog I can confirm it was Tuesday morning), but it all melted before I could do one of those cliché photoblog it’s snowing posts, annoying because I don’t think I’ve ever done one of those posts.

I still haven’t got my hair cut, that’s two months now which is twice what I normally do. I must book an appointment.

I finally bought a headset, inspired by my appearance in the Hanslsland Podcast (episode 32) which was not great quality as I was using dodgy headphone which it turns out wasn’t wired up correctly and the mike from the video camera. It’s a nice Plantronics, over the ears thing, sound quality is great.

Ah, that’ll do you for today, I’ll give another New Years resolution update next time.

It is not in my jeans

This week saw my travel with work for the first time since before Christmas of last year, despite me packing unusually early I forgot to back any casual trousers/jeans so I ended up wearing my tracksuit bottoms which I had only packed for wearing in the gym while staying in the hotel. I felt most embarrassed walking about looking like a chav for two evenings, needless to say I didn’t leave the hotel.

Well unsurprisingly the car failed it’s MOT, it needed over 400 quids worth of repairs. All of which goes on the credit card bill that I’m trying to clear. So that one news years resolution made a significantly more difficult. Speaking of the resolution I’ll give you a general update on how the are going,

I’m almost finished reading the Seventh book since Christmas, I probably would have read more, but I found “Does Anything eat wasps?” a very difficult read, it’s a very dry and boring, “The book of General Ignorance” is a much more interesting read on the same subject. It is the book I am currently finishing. I am still find it be very difficult to wake up when my alarm clock goes off especially when I’m working from home, hopefully I’ll see some progress in this area soon. I’ve managed to waste less time on the internet by deleted a load of time stealing website from my bookmarks and requesting my account is deleted from a number of social networking sites. I’ve was at the gym on Monday, I did 30 minutes cardio exercise and was very stiff afterwards, but I’m going to continue to build on this. Also I didn’t drink any alcohol while I was away with work, just water and J2O but I’m still drinking far too much Tea.

I’ve made very little progress with the procrastinating, and finally Since this is another update you can see I am blogging at least once a week. I think my next step is make the blogs more interesting.

Six days later

Did you think I was not gonna update the blog in time to keep my Blog at least one update a week resolution? Well ha, I have not failed yet.

Biggest news this week is you can hear my voice and a piece of music remixed by myself on the latest HansIsland podcast, it's excellent as usual so go and have a listen

Second most on my mind is the car is booked in a MOT on Thursday and I have a very bad feeling about this one for a number of reasons including the last one cost a fortune, the car has had some serious problems in the past 12 months, and finally the main reason is I've just finished paying for the car so it will probably need scrapping.

To expand on the previous updated on my hard drive issue, I've lost website work (Including beta code, WIP websites, and a lot of web templates) over About 100,000 Chip tunes (C64, Spectrum, NES, SNES, MegaDrive), A lot of emulators and roms (including Full MAME Set, 20Gb of C64 stuff) MP3 (all my podcasts, complete collection from remix.kwed.org and amigaremix.com) and the original and source version of my music remixes. However I've not let this get me down, I've recovered the live website data from their respective webservers, I've re-downloaded a lot of the C64 Remixes from remix.kwed.org and the rest I will have to live without, and to answer the question of why I didn't backup my data before merging the partition is"Backups are for losers", also I'm to lazy to back up across 10+ DVD discs (I'll think next time I run out of space I'll go back to my old solution of purchasing a new hard drive).

Recently I've grown a strange addiction to the Lazy Town Soundtrack album, 'You are a Pirate' is probably one of the greatest tune of our times.

I'll see you next week for a New years Resolutions update!

Belated Happy New Year!

We stayed in on new years eve this year. It seems staying in is the new going out, as a lot of other people I know didn’t bother going out either.

Anyway I promised you a new years resolution update, so lets first of all look at last years resolutions – and how well I did.

Stop downloading specialist video files – Failed, I stopped and restarted several times.
Everyday is a school day. Study for my ITIL and take the exam in February and keep going after this. – Passed(ish), I took and passed the ITIL exam, but no in February. No other learning was done
Spend less time mindlessly browsing the Internet – Failed, miserably. I'm worse than ever now.
Keeping going to the Gym, and find some more activities to do. – Failed, miserably. Bearly went to the gym at all this year.
Clear my Debts – Failed, I payed of some debt, and worked out a plan to clear the rest.
Improve social skills – Failed, miserably.
Stop fucking swearing (boom-boom) – Failed, miserably.
Improve my Basic English skills. – Failed, miserably.

And here this years goals, there is a lot more of them.

Read, Read, Read – Try and read 50 books by Christmas
Blog More – A least one update a week
wake up when my alarm clock goes off (The most difficult task in the world to me)
Spend less time fooling around on the net and more time actually working
Exercise regularly – Need to exercise daily and go the gym at least once a week
drink more water – (Drink less Tea and more water)
learn. learn. learn something everyday
get out of debt – (by paying off credit cards and not buying anything I don’t need)
stop procrastinating
be more patient (be less short tempered)
be more social

I also have these as long terms goals, but I don’t think I’ll get them done this year;
Buy a House
Perform stand-up comedy (perhaps I’ll never do this one)
Write comedy
Write a book and have it published

As I promised last year I'll keep you updated.

Repartition?

Aye, after several hours of waiting Partition Magic deleted my Data partition. It's completely unrecoverable as I was attempting to merge it with another partition. So I've lost all my website work, Music (including the only copies of stuff I wrote), emulators and and ten thousand odd roms.

Cocks.

Quick update while I’m waiting….

Why the Christ does Scandisk take forever to scan a 60GB partition? Bah, I had the bright idea of doing a quick repartition of the desktop PC about 2 hours ago.

Anyway while I'm here, I'll tell you about ObscureInternet. It's has just completed it's first year of the relaunch and It's increased hugely, so much so that I think I'm gonna have to search for a new LAMP web host. The traffic hitting the forum at the peak periods of the day is grinding the forum to a halt and it's only gonna get worse as we get new users.

I'll finish the proper update when I get the desktop PC running again, I might even have decided my New year resolutions by then.
