Merry Christmas

It is a little late I know, but so is every other single update I have every written on this blog. Speaking of blogging, I recently read that blogging is set to peak next year, which made my think about this blog and if I should continue to update it, lets face it, I’ve never really been any good at blogging, I’ve never blogged about any of the important stuff in my or anyone’s life (you understand the normal stuff births, deaths, miscarriages, terrorist attacks) perhaps I should make that a new years resolution (more on those later)

Anyway back to Christmas, I still don’t like it. In fact I could quite do with out, as someone who has been seduced by Richard Dawkins’ logic all that is left of Christmas is to further spoil the boy by buying him a ridiculous amount of Toys. I can’t really complain about the gifts I was given for Christmas, I got what I asked for which was a load of books (another new year resolution), some more Starscreams (woo), a Thundercats T-Shirt, two tubs (80) of Double Lollies (I adore Swizzlers’ Double Lollies) and some smellies (because I smell).

Looking back on that, I think perhaps am being a little harsh on Christmas, I’m guess I’m just feeling a little down at the moment, I urgently need to sort my life out! One of the significant concerns on my mind at the minute is I feel like I have been treading water this last few months with regards to me my life and I don’t seem to be getting anywhere. I’m trying to definitely find the precious time to sit down and work out where I need to be going with some things, perhaps these tough matters could be my new year resolutions

.Oh If you are wondering where those pictures I promised to take at Anthony and Nicola engagement are, I never took any, but you can find a burdensome load of new pictures (including new pictures from team nights out) here  at my photobucket site. I use photobucket as it has a healthy 1GB limit rather than flickr which has a poxy 200 most recent images.

Finally I’ll generously give you a bit of website news, there has been lots going on at ObscureInternet but I’ll leave that for another update, I’m seriously reconsidering rewriting the complete site from scratch including creating my own forum software (mainly to get rid of the spammers)

Engagement party

Me and the wife are out tonight, we are walking all the way the corner to the Southlands centre where Anthony (chovi) and Nicola are having their engagement party, so if you are good boys and girls I might even post some pictures.

Long time no update? So bite me.

Me and the family had a nice short holiday in Ireland, it would have been even better if I had not been sick with the flu, but never mind. This was followed up by a week long visit from me Mother, Sister and Aunt which means the odds of my winning any argument where very very low.

Website wise The staff of ObscureInternet had the very first meeting if the ObscureInternet council last week which I think went very well. Remember we are looking for staff, if you think you can help please drop me a line! I’ve also been working hard on the web design. The back end of ObscureInternet has been almost completely rewritten, BrokenInglish is up and running again with new stories and more to come and I’m currently working on the Konnie Huq and Zoë Salmon fan sites, the new and improve sites should be up and running soon.

I finally got a new 1GB M2 Memory card (cheap of Ebay) for the new K800i, I’ve also got some great apps for it including Opera and the official clients for Gmail and Live Messenger, so I can continue my internet addiction even when I’m away from the computer and laptop.

I must wish a belated Happy Birthday to Scribbler’s blog as it is 200 years old or something such like.

I’ve been thinking of my next set of new years resolutions and how they are going to be very close to this years, which brings me to 43things.com a interesting website where you put down various goals you have in your life and share progress with people with the same goals, this site is a part of number of sites from which I found I’m the only person to consume the Lazy Town sound track.

Other stuff I should have blogged about, but I never got around to it include The very sad death of Basil Poledouris, I recommend that you go and listen to the amazing Conan and Robocop soundtracks to see what the world is now missing. The Borat movie, which very funny film. Probably even funnier if haven’t seen the character before. Also Conor has been playing on Super Mario 64 on his DS for the last weeks and has managed to get more than 80 stars by himself which I think is pretty cool.

Finally I usually create a new post when a new Magic Trevor is released, but I’ve not done it this time as it encourages school child to come to the site and post stupid comments.

Happy Sunday afternoon Turkeys

The sun is shinning a my cup of tea is hot, and I have the feeling a should be updating my blog again, however I haven’t really remember anything worth blogging. So I’ll just give you some random facts, starting with on the way to the shop I passed a group of kids with the worst Guy (Fawkes doll) ever, it looked a half filled paper bag attached to some old clothes, when the kids asked for ‘penny for the guy’ I suggested that they should pay me for walking passed it instead.

Speaking of Halloween, it is often the time over eager advertisers start harping on about Christmas and sure enough this year is no exception, I had the misfortune to watch Emnerdale with the wife and it’s a sponsored by some air fresher company that thinks its they don’t even need a tenuous link to Jesus Birthday to use it as an excuse to steal our money

Google’s Documents and Spreadsheet is a very handy page which hasn’t had the publicity it deservers and then only reason I have not been shouting that from the roof tops (metaphorically speaking) is because Google seem to hate Opera.

The podcasted I mention in the last update is now available, although ObscureInternet only feature for a very short time, you should go a listen.

Yes, I suck!

Right, I officially concede that I am rubbish at updating websites, which given my position is a pretty crappy state of affairs, but I’ll do my best to update you in my so called life.

I’ve had a return to the Gym and I’ve actually managed on a couple of occasions to do a full work out. One of my fears since I started working away is the amount of weight I would put on from having fancy hotel or restaurant meals every night, so I took the bold step of weighing myself for the first time in six month, and I was shocked to see I’ve only put on about 2kg. I hope to keep going to the gym and maybe start swimming as well.

I’ve also being playing with a MySpace profile for myself and ObscureInternet go and have a look. Myspace seems to be good way out get people interested in your band/website/film/whatever so I’m going to keep exploiting that.

Seems Overclockers are not the only company with shitty customer service. I’ve got my lovely K800i at last (it’s a fooking awesome phone, the camera is outstanding) from Vodafone, however it’s the deal I’ve got is not the deal I asked for on the phone. I rang up and got through to someone called Neil in Upgrades who sounded about 12, who told me I could have the phone as I free upgrade on a twelve month contact, he also asked if I wanted a month free insurance which I politely decided. So imagine my surprise a number of days later when I got a not through my door telling me that I had agreed to a eighteen month contract and insurance.

I immediately call Vodafone and after 15 minutes waiting to get thought or speaking to other people I’m eventually put through to a guy called Craig in the ’14 day returns’ department. Craig was a great guy after listening to me explain my problem, he decide that it sound like too difficult problem a problem to be bothering with at 4.30pm on a Friday afternoon so he said ‘hello’ down the phone a couple of time to give the illusion that the call had been lost before removing his headset and leaving it on his desk. I’ve work in contact centres long enough to know when someone is taking the piss out of me.

When I call back I was put thought to a lass the same department (I forget her name) who could have give a shit about the appalling service I had received, instead she thought it was sufficient to tell me that you could get the phone I order on a twelve month contacts.

On a lighter note as you hopefully have read and heard I had the pleasure in taking part in my first podcast. I work with Rob from the HansIsland podcast, and he was kind enough to ask my a couple of guys we work with (who are also OI forum members) to be on a show. The podcast has seen a large number of new visitors to OI which is a great thing and long may it continue, also since the first podcast we have also recorded some more footage, so you may be hearing from us again.

Conor has recently developed a small interested in football which has led to me taking him to football on Friday Nights after school. On the subject of football I have some Abzanspondor news. is talk of a Abzanspondor legends reunion match to take place in the near future, more details when they are in!

HansIsland Podcast

Hello all, I’m very excited as I’ve just appeared in my very first podcast. HansIsland were kind enough to ask a few people from ObscureInternet.com including myself to be on a show. Go have a listen.

The proper update

I know this update has been a long long time coming, but it’s been difficult to write this one (until I decided to miss out the interesting stuff), Some of this this update with written on a sunny Balcony in Lytham St Annes over a two week ago, and the rest I am trying to complete now.

As you also may remember for a previous update, overclockers.co.uk are a bunch of cocks. Who manage to turn there RMA process into a decent way of making money. Thanks to them I sold the Processor for sale on ebay, and Graphics and sound card will follow.

It’s been up and down for me, the lows have seen me get drunker than I have been for a long time (on a school night) and I’ve also missed a important social function too. The ups have seen me return to the Blackbull in Peterlee for a drink, a nice meal on the town with friends, I’ve managed to hit the gym to days running, and I caught up with some old friends while watching the Boro perform very poorly.

I’ve also learned how to drive an Automatic car, the simple secret is to chop off your left leg.

Sorry to keep you waiting again

Another video to keep you going….

Well this update has been a while coming

Originally I planned to tell you things about further problems with the car and the computer (After praising for Overclockers.co.uk for their RMA process, it’s seem I was mislead by their lazy Support Staff. Thus they have wasted both my time, money and patience. I definitely do not recommend Overclockers as they are a bunch of cocks), but something much more important has happened over the last few days which I'll tell you about in a bit.

That Update!

Hello all, here is the updating I've been hinting at for the past two weeks and it looks like it's going to be a long one! Please excuse the bad English it’s been a long day.

DSC01066 As you may know I've been on Holiday for the past two weeks, (back to work on Monday) and you also may know that I've been looking forward to this holiday for a bit, for a various reasons Including; It's two weeks away from work, It's two weeks with the wife and the boy, Mother is coming to England for a couple of weeks and bringing one me Aunts with her, and my sister should be home for a few days. We hadn't planned on going one place for the holidays but rather have a number of days out to theme parks and the like.

The only incident of first few days (excluding bumping into to Mark Conner and Family Fun Day in Pallister Park and aside from my hair growing far too long on my head and face) was the problems with the computer. The correct processor arrived on Tuesday and the computer was rebuilt. Firstly I tried to reinstall Windows XP with a repair install (despite the new hardware) this would not work, so I formatted C: and installed a new version of XP, fortunately I’d moved the 'documents and setting' folder to the D drive so it didn't cause too many software problems. However even after the computer was fully built and installed I was having problems with it Blue Screening, Network and Installer problems.

DSC01072 Wednesday night came and was time to go pick Ma up from the Airport, it being a nice night and us being on holiday me and the full family got into the car (mostly without jackets) and headed of to Newcastle. The trip up was the fine; it was the trip back from the Airport when the car decided to break down. Now currently the RAC (our breakdown company) are running an advert on TV at the moment where they attend to and fix a broken down car in a couple of minutes in the most condescending way possible. So it was rather annoying waiting on the side of the A1(M) in the rain near midnight waiting for the RAC to figurate out where we had broken down and then decide to send a another breakdown company to attend. The guy that attended the car was pretty good actually however he couldn't fix the car and he had to tow us all the way home. About two hours after the car broke down we finally got home, and it looked like the head gasket on the car had gone, which had also punctured the radiator (which was now leaking)

The Car and Computer Problems continued through Conor’s seventh Birthday. The computer was still Blue Screening, and I was arranging a Mechanic to come and look at the car.

So I was feeling pretty low on my thirty-first Birthday, despite birthday wishes from Sarno Cabral, Jujuba Docinha, METROPLEX !!!!, Ignacio, BritHawk, Heather, Laura, C16, merman, Dafunk, Hazel, Danceaway, Vosla, ifadeo, Dumper, Romeo Knight, moog, Kenz, LMan, trace and Waz (Many thanks all) my only present was this Galaxy Force Starscream which was bought using ebay by myself a couple of months ago. I had left it in the cupboard upstairs until the time was right.

DSC01088 In the second week of the Holiday we got a nice mobile Mechanic to look at the car. He is going to look at the fixing the Gasket and replace the Radiator, we sorted out a reasonable priced hire care (£107 + Petrol for five day hire of Fiesta from National) and saw some Puppies.

The bad news is the mechnical thinks there is a possiblity the car engine could have been cracked when the Gasket blew on the car, which mean the car would cost more to repair then it would be worth. The engine will be crack tested. Microsoft Crash analysis was given me and help with my computer problems, apparently it is a 'Error caused by a device driver'.

On Wednesday we took the boy to Diggerland in the Hire Car, and great fun was had by all.

DSC01104 We also found out the car ain't complete broken and it should be fixed in the next few days. The computer seems to responding to a course of tweaking BIOS, new Device Drivers and disabling NV Fireware. I even managed a late night drink related webcam session.

Which brings us to today. Mechanic is still fixing the car and the computer hasn’t given me a problem for the last three days. We took the hire car this afternoon, and while we where in town Conor and I took the opportunity to have our hair cuts. I’m very pleased with mine, a pretty new lass has started at the my Stylist (which is moving incidentally) and she gave me a very good cut. Conor's got his spiked up. After that we went to see the new Disney/Pixar movie Cars which was great (except the Jermey Clarkson, pointless regionalisation at it’s worst)

Erm, I've missed loads of stuff out, like how the Wife read the last update about the Iron and she ain’t happy. If I thinking of anything else I try to fit it in another update.
